Tabling Policy
Storefront Tabling Rules
- Storefront tabling is restricted to organizations and/or individuals that meet one of the following criteria:
- Organizations affiliated with Co-op giving programs (current/past recipients or current approved applicants during voting period), including Seeds for Change and the Cooperative Community Fund.
- Registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, fiscally sponsored organizations, federally recognized tribal governments, or school-affiliated groups, which are based in Humboldt County and focus primarily on serving the local community in one of the following areas:
- Community Support Services: Supportive services for diverse communities within Humboldt County, including BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, persons with disabilities, and low-income communities.
- Local Food Systems: Supporting local food systems and increasing the availability of locally grown food within Humboldt County.
- Educational Programs Focused on Food: Educational services around food, including food systems, health, and nutrition.
- Environmental/Sustainability Advocacy and Education: Protection of local environmental resources and habitats and/or promote sustainable systems and practices.
- Animal Welfare Services: Rescue and rehabilitation, direct care, and/or sheltering and adoption services.
- School/Youth Programs: Support for learning and development opportunities for children and young adults.
- Co-op Board members and/or approved Board candidates.
- All tabling activities and content, materials, displays, and verbal messaging must conform to the approved categories outlined in section 1(b) of this policy.
- Organizations must be non-sectarian and non-partisan in nature. Tabling activities cannot be in promotion of political candidates or ballot measures and cannot include the collection of signatures.
- Those tabling may only engage with passersby when freely approached by others and may not audibly call attention whether vocally, with music/audio, or use of instruments or noisemakers. Active pursuit or interfering with free access in and out of doors of persons while on Co-op property is expressly forbidden.
- Sale of goods, merchandise, or information is prohibited.
- Donations may only be accepted on behalf of the organization tabling; the collection of funds for unaffiliated, third-party organizations/purposes is prohibited. Donations may not be accepted in exchange for any form of goods or services. The purpose of donations collected must conform to the approved categories outlined in section 1(b) of this policy.
- A maximum of two tabling sessions is permitted per store location per group/individual every seven days (subject to availability).
- Tabling is limited to one group/individual per store location at any given time.
- Animals may not be present at the table, except as permitted by ADA.
- Table setup must adhere to the following:
- One table per group/individual in designated areas only.
- Participants must provide their own table and chairs (except for Board member/candidates).
- Any Co-op supplied signage must be displayed on the table.
- Those tabling are responsible for cleaning area after use.
- Those tabling may not park in the Co-op parking lot, except for the purpose of loading/unloading. Non-authorized parking may result in parking violations and being towed at the owner's expense.
- All tabling activities are subject to advanced approval. North Coast Co-op reserves the right to deny or halt tabling activities on company property at any time.
How to Request Tabling
- To request a timeslot for tabling, please email tabling@northcoast.coop.
- It is recommended to schedule a minimum of seven days in advance. Please note that priority scheduling is given to current participants in Co-op giving programs.
- Please include the following information in your request:
- Name of your organization/group.
- Documentation identifying your organization/group as one of the following: Registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, fiscally sponsored organization, federally recognized tribal government, or school-affiliated group.
- Content and purpose of tabling activities as well as any donations which will be collected.
- Name and contact information for the primary point of contact.
- Desired day, time, and store for tabling.
- Before beginning tabling, please check in at the Customer Service desk and complete the Hold Harmless Agreement. If signed in advance, please submit a copy to the Customer Service desk upon arrival. *Note: The Hold Harmless Agreement must be signed by an authorized signer.
