North Coast Growers’ Association strengthens our local food system by uplifting farmers who supply grocery stores, schools, and our 10 weekly farmers' markets. Through training programs, business consulting, and our Harvest Hub wholesale program, we provide essential tools for farmer success, while ensuring our community has equitable access to fresh, healthy, locally-grown food.
Affordable Homeless Housing Alternatives uses grassroots, community-driven advocacy to offer direct services and support to our unsheltered community members with no place to go. We bring our Mobile Shower Care-a-Van to meet people where they are, offering information and referral services, hygiene products, fresh food, all weather clothing, and a place to be treated with dignity and respect.
Humboldt Soups On! is a registered 501(c)(3), all volunteer organization that serves 60+ nutritious and healthy meals to our unhoused neighbors in Arcata and surrounding areas. We have served these meals, daily, since November 2023. For many of our people the meals we provide are their only source of nutrition. Our consistent presence also provides a sense of stability and hope in their lives.
Building Lives by Building Structure (BLBS) creates affordable homes and transitional shelter options using innovative materials and methods, including repurposed and hemp materials. The Humboldt Havens project includes hands on training, fostering economic and workforce development opportunities to predominantly Indigenous program participants, while providing transitional shelter options.
SoHum Housing Opportunities is a non-profit committed to the idea that all should have access to affordable shelter, basic sustenance, and opportunities to improve their lives. Our mission is to explore all options for this including; safe and legal camping, transitional housing villages, and eventually permanent housing.
CAPE Fund works to ensure all Eureka community members, regardless of income or housing status, have access to housing, employment, quality-of-life opportunities, and vital resources. By addressing barriers like unstable housing, finances, lack of public facilities, and partnering with local organizations, C.A.P.E. empowers disadvantaged populations and strengthens the community.
Centro del Pueblo is a women-led nonprofit organization defending Human Rights in Humboldt County since 2016. We uplift our Indigenous culture through events centered on Food Sovereignty, healing traditions, Civil Rights, legal support, and media outreach. As the political climate grows more hostile, our work with migrant families has become more essential than ever.
Queer Humboldt is a local queer resource center that bridges supports and resources so that the local 2S/LGBTQIA+ community has what is needed to thrive. No one is turned away for lack of funds, including for inclusivity trainings and clinical therapy services. Queer Humboldt uses the 10 Principles of Disability Justice to center intersectionality in program development and delivery.
Wild Souls Ranch provides equine-assisted programs for at-risk and underserved youth in Humboldt County. We create a safe, supportive environment where kids build confidence, process trauma, and gain life skills through hands-on experiences with horses and other ranch animals.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the North Coast has empowered local youth since 1969. Our mentorship program connects diverse children ages 6–16 with dedicated adult mentors, with plans to expand to young adults up to 25. Each match costs $2,000–$3,000 annually and delivers life-changing results: mentored youth show higher college enrollment, better behavior, and greater lifetime earnings.
Dream Quest is at the heart of the Willow Creek community, providing year-round opportunities that help young people build skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging. From drama and dance to recreation and work experience, youth gain hands-on experience that helps them grow and build their future. Since its founding in 2001, Dream Quest has touched the lives of more than 3,000 young people.
Evolve Youth Services strives to reduce family conflict, mitigate the effects of trauma, and improve attachment challenges through encouragement, understanding, and assistance on a variety of levels. We use the High Fidelity Wraparound method of service tailored to a family's unique needs. This holistic approach underscores the pivotal role of building healthy relationships in healing from trauma.
Regenerative Ranch Foundation is more than a nonprofit. We are a community of clinicians, mentors, and advocates restoring trust, stability, and connection in the lives of adopted youth. Our mission is to walk beside adoptive families through their hardest seasons, helping them move beyond impossible crossroads into a new landscape of healing — with personalized, community-rooted care.
Humboldt Foster Care Resource Center is a local, all volunteer, community supported non-profit whose primary mission is to provide clothing, hygiene items, baby supplies and equipment to children and youth in foster care in Humboldt County and to offer support and encouragement to families providing their care.
Play Street is a nonprofit organization formed in 2022 by a group of moms who saw the benefit in sharing their lived experiences in navigating the public resources, education and healthcare systems during their parenting journeys. Our Mission is to provide an all-inclusive space to foster connection and community cohesion amongst Humboldt County families with children with disabilities.
Redwood Discovery Museum is celebrating 30 years of educational resources for Humboldt families. With hand-built exhibits created by local teachers, the museum offers interactive opportunities for children of all ages to learn about the surrounding world while preparing them for the future. The Museum's goal is to foster parent-child connection and promote a life-long love of learning.
Humboldt Sponsors is a local nonprofit organization of 325 volunteer members, dedicated to raising funds solely to benefit Humboldt County youth. We award grants annually in April to local youth-related nonprofit programs and organizations that provide services to children. Since 1971, we have awarded more than $3,040,000 in grant funds. "We make good things happen for local kids!"
Redwood Girl Scouts Service Unit of GSCORCAL is part of the largest girl-led organization dedicated to providing leadership opportunities, outdoor experiences, entrepreneurial awareness, and life skills to girls, young women, and gender expansive youth. Volunteer-run troops provide an avenue to build life-long friendships, gain self-confidence, get outdoors, and support community.
Northcoast Children's Services believes that healthy families are crucial to the development that occurs from the beginning of life through early childhood. Respectfully building on each family's strengths and goals, NCS works in partnership with families. NCS operates classroom and home based preschool programs serving low income families throughout Humboldt and Del Norte Counties.
Humboldt Trails Council (HTC) is the trails organization which advocates for development of trails, trail amenities and connectivity. Our VTS program builds and maintains 12 local trails in Humboldt County. Without the VTS trail maintenance, the government entities would be unable to obtain funding for new trail construction. HTC will also present the Trails Summit in May 2026.
Friends of the Eel River works for the recovery of our Wild & Scenic river, its fisheries and communities. We are committed to removing the two dams blocking access to our headwaters, advocating for the Great Redwood Trail, and ensuring sustainable land use, including effective groundwater regulation: all vital for restoring salmon habitat across 250 miles and safeguarding the Eel River ecosystem.
Karuk Department of Natural Resources protects, enhances & restores the cultural/natural resources & ecological processes that Karuk people depend on. The staff ensures that the integrity of natural ecosystem processes and traditional values are incorporated into resource management strategies.
Eel River Watershed Improvement Group's ultimate goal is to recover Chinook, Coho and Steelhead populations in the Eel River. We work towards this goal by obtaining grant funds to conduct instream and riparian restoration projects. We also engage with the community through a monthly Science on Tap event and introduce watershed ecology to local middle school students at our yearly Creek Days event.
Redwood Parks Conservancy connects people to the outdoors in meaningful ways. From offering free transportation for those with barriers, to funding water-safety programs for youth, to hosting volunteer trail work events in the redwoods, we bring our community together to enjoy and protect these ancient, endangered forests.
Environmental Protection Information Center or EPIC has been protecting Northern California's land, water, and wildlife for nearly 50 years. With an integrated approach combining public education, citizen advocacy, and strategic litigation, we envision a Northwest California with healthy, connected, and wild forests where sustainable, restorative management practices are the standard.
Integral Ecology Research Center, the North Coast's first minority- and woman-founded conservation nonprofit, is a team of scientists dedicated to protecting the natural world that sustains our communities. Through ecological research, restoration, and education, we work to ensure clean water, healthy lands, and thriving wildlife are conserved for current and future generations.
Waterkeeper (formerly Humboldt Baykeeper) works to safeguard our coastal resources for the health, enjoyment, and economic strength of the Humboldt Bay community. We work to ensure the Bay and its tributaries remain clean and safe for fish and wildlife, as well as for people.
Regional Land Trust is dedicated to the protection and economic viability of working landscapes, farms, forests, and grazing lands, and to the preservation and protection of land for its natural, educational, scenic, and historic values. We believe that healthy people and places are integrally tied and must be managed in tandem to ensure future economic and ecological sustainability.
Friends of the Lost Coast's mission is to inspire passion for nature and the Lost Coast via education, stewardship, youth & citizen-science programs & public lands advocacy. Celebrating 25 years, we support King Range National Conservation Area & engage the community through interpretive offerings & land stewardship, with an emphasis on developing the next generation of environmental stewards.
Redwood Region Audubon Society’s mission is about conservation of birds & their habitats within Humboldt, Del Norte & Trinity Counties. We foster conservation by creating an appreciation of birds: leading free bird walks to showcase the diverse beauty of our coastlines & forests; actively restoring greenspaces in order to support migratory and nesting birds in an increasingly urbanizing world.
Mid Klamath Watershed Council (MKWC) works collaboratively with partners to restore the threatened Klamath River and upslope habitats. We plan, implement, and adaptively manage on-the-ground projects that enhance watershed health and community vitality, such as fisheries habitat improvement, prescribed fire implementation, invasive plant removal, and youth and community engagement.
Bigfoot Trail Alliance envisions connected rural communities conserving the unparalleled biodiversity of the Klamath Mountains region through stewardship and education. We partner with land agencies and nonprofits to engage and equip conservation corps and community volunteers in the restoration and maintenance of the 360-mile Bigfoot Trail and other trails on our local public lands.
Coalition for Responsible Transportation Priorities (CRTP) provides public education and advocacy in support of safe, sustainable, and equitable transportation in Humboldt County and across the North Coast. We promote evidence-based strategies to make streets safer for everyone, help solve the climate crisis, and make it easier to walk, bike, roll and ride the bus.
Sequoia Humane Society is dedicated to helping dogs and cats in need by providing safe shelter, veterinary care, and adoption services. Our vision is a community where every pet has a loving home. Through compassionate care and strong partnerships, we give animals a second chance and connect them with families who will cherish them Furever!
Companion Animal Foundation is a compassionate force that works diligently to meet our community needs in regards to animals. Through our spay/neuter program we have provided almost 11 thousand vouchers to pet guardians. For the Love of Animals Humane Education program just finished its 11th year and we are approaching 4,000 animal adoptions! We love to say, 'were small but mighty'!
Humboldt Animal Rescue Team takes in homeless and abandoned animals (primarily cats/kittens) to our shelter and finds them loving, forever homes through our adoption program. Every animal is vaccinated and spayed/neutered before adoption. We have a network of foster homes for animals in need, including bottle raising orphaned kittens. We provide spay/neuter funding for community members.
Two Rivers Pet & Wildlife Welfare Services is an all volunteer run organization started in 2019 when founding members found a live dog in a live trap thrown over a hillside. Our mission is to never allow that again by providing education about spay/neuter and animal wellbeing. We have helped hundreds of animals find homes where they will be loved and cared for during the entirety of their lives.
Bless the Beasts of Humboldt Co is a volunteer organization striving to solve the pet over-population issue by providing vouchers to seniors, low-income and unhoused residents so that they can get their animals spayed and neutered. We also provide assistance with rabies vaccinations and parasite treatment with the goal of keeping our county's residents and their animals safe and healthy.
Humboldt Spay/Neuter Network provides affordable spay/neuter and other essential veterinary care for cats and dogs, helping families in financial hardship keep their pets healthy and at home. By preventing overpopulation and reducing abandonment and suffering through these programs, we ease the strain on local shelters and build a stronger, more compassionate community for both people and animals.
Karuna Rescue's mission is to rescue animals in need in our community in many ways from helping with fire evacuations and taking in badly injured animals and providing them with the medical care they need to become adoptable and find their furever homes.
Humboldt Humane’s Critters Without Litters is reducing pet overpopulation by offering affordable spay/neuter services, basic wellness care, and weekly vaccine clinics. Our services are available to all community members, and we conduct outreach clinics to reach those in need. We are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership through education initiatives and TNR programs for feral cats.
Redwood Raks Collective is a diverse, all-volunteer artist collective offering a wide variety of dance, movement, music, and cultural events for local community members of all ages including Latin, belly dance, capoeira, fitness, African, folk, samba, Japanese, and more. The Collective is committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone is welcomed, valued and celebrated.

Ink People Center for Arts and Culture amplifies opportunities for art and culture to flourish. We support community wellbeing and visionary acts through year-round programs, such as the DreamMaker Program where we offer professional development support to more than 80 grassroots projects, the Media Arts Resource Zone youth program, and placemaking efforts that enrich the North Coast region.
Humboldt County Historical Society has operated for 78 years and counting! Our part-time staff runs the Bookstore and Research Center, publishes our quarterly magazine and annual calendar; all on membership fees and donations. We put on multiple community events including our Spring Luncheon and Beer Fest at the Blue Ox Village. We preserve the analog history of Humboldt. History needs a Home!
Morris Graves Museum of Art (MGMA) in Eureka is a regional art center and cultural hub operated by the Humboldt Arts Council. Housed in the beautifully restored 1904 Carnegie Library building, the museum features seven galleries dedicated to the arts and artists of the Pacific Northwest, including works by its patron artist, Morris Graves.
Arcata Playhouse/Playhouse Arts works to create meaningful connections and inclusive cultural experiences for all through a multitude of events and programs. As the Local Arts Agency for the City of Arcata, we believe in the power of artists, sharing resources, supporting venues, and creating opportunities for free and low cost art experiences that benefit all people and our planet.
Kinetic Universe is the all volunteer-run nonprofit that produces the Kinetic Grand Championship, a free, all-ages race of human-powered art across Humboldt County each Memorial Day weekend. Born in Ferndale in 1969, it has grown into a glorious tradition that draws thousands, promotes tourism, and engages the community in STE(A)M every year.
Humboldt Domestic Violence Services (HDVS) are a non-profit agency dedicated to promoting the rights and well-being of people who have survived or are currently experiencing domestic violence, intimate partner violence, or trafficking in Humboldt County. We provide counseling, accompaniment, restraining order assistance, shelter, advocacy, and a range of additional services—all completely free.
Humboldt Trinity Health Care promotes the physical and mental health of Humboldt County residents. Our programs include a free Anxiety/ Depression support group, provides lifesaving diagnostic mammograms and ultrasounds to underinsured and uninsured women, and accessible health education materials and navigation that assist community members in learning how to advocate for their own health needs.
Northern California Tribal Court Coalition brings dignity, harmony, and healing to Native families by advocating for survivors of domestic violence and supporting the tribal courts that serve them. Through our appellate court, dispute resolution, and court support, we build stable pathways for justice, protect traditions, expand access to justice, and increase community safety.
Adult Day Health Care of Mad River is a medically based day program for adults who are dependent on others for some of their care. Our mission is to help our participants to remain in their chosen living environment and with the lowest level of care needed for as long as possible while providing essential respite for their caregivers.
Humboldt Library Foundation exists to strengthen and sustain the Humboldt County Library system. Since 1997, we have built a strong base of community support. We consistently provide over $100,000 annually to the library for new books, technology, and programs. Our history demonstrates fiscal responsibility, effective project management, and a commitment to rural access to literacy and learning.
Bear River Tribal Public Library provides free access to books, technology, and educational programs for all ages in our rural community. We support learning through tutoring, storytimes, digital literacy, and reading initiatives, while ensuring that families, youth, and elders have a safe and welcoming place to learn, grow, and connect.
Humboldt Literacy Project, since 1981, we are Humboldt County’s one source for free, confidential, one-on-one English language tutoring for adult native English speakers and second language learners. This individualized, learner centric program is crucial for people not thriving in the traditional classroom environment or who cannot access it.
KMUD Redwood Community Radio is a grassroots radio station providing a deep community connection since 1987. In addition to music, news and public affairs programs, KMUD is a primary source for safety information during wildfires, earthquakes and other emerging events. KMUD emphasizes locally-produced content. We collaborate with local organizations to address the needs of our diverse audience.
Redwood Coast Mountain Bike Association builds trails that build community! We're local riders creating sustainable mountain bike infrastructure to strengthen our economy through outdoor recreation tourism while providing essential outlets for mental health and community connection.
