Mother's Day May 8
The 39th Annual Atalanta Run
by Jessy English-Johnson
The 39th annual Atalanta’s Victory Run put on by the Six Rivers Running Club is set to take place this Mother’s Day May 8th starting and finishing at the Arcata Co-op. Named for the mythological Greek runner, Atalanta, who was uncontested as the swiftest in the land, this race is a celebration of the power and strength of women.
The race consists of a 2 mile and 5 mile flat out and back courses through the Arcata bottoms and is open to strollers and wheelchairs. Both races start at 10 am with bib pick-up starting at 9am. Proceeds from the race support the Breast and GYN Health Project as well as local running teams.
